| On 1st August, Ahuwhenua Awards launched the competition for horticulture at the HortNZ Conference Gala Dinner by the Hon Nanaia Mahuta. For over 200 years Māori have exported their horticulture products – a fact not widely recognized by in New Zealand, however, Māori are now major investors in the sector, which has resulted in financial returns and jobs for their people. This award sets out to celebrate the achievements of Māori working in the horticulture sector.
