As you may have already seen in Kiwitips, Kiwifruit Journal etc. Zespri’s new Planting Guide is now available from the Sustainability page on Canopy: https://canopy.zespri.com/EN/industry/aboutzespri/sustainability/Documents/Plants-with-purpose-native-and-shelterbelt-planting.pdf
The aim of the guide is to provide growers with kiwifruit orchard specific info to support planning and plant selection for native (such as for riparian or wetland restoration) or shelterbelt planting projects.
Print copies are still a couple of weeks away, but growers are welcome to request print copies by email to extension@zespri.com (email requests should include postal address and quantity required)
In addition to the main booklet, Zespri is also developing a set of summary docs (2-4 pages) that will be available on Canopy next month.
These will summarise key info & plant selection lists from the main booklet on planting for:
- Shelterbelts
- Waterways & wetlands (riparian areas)
- Pollination & biodiversity support
- Erosion control
- Carbon sequestration
